Memory and Concentration

It is not uncommon for people to be dissatisfied with their memory, in fact many of us tend to believe that somehow we were born with a ‘poor memory’ or inability to concentrate. However, this is not true!

The prerequisite for good memory and concentration is confidence and relaxation. There is little difference between the abilities of healthy adults. You have very good ‘equipment’ for memory and concentration, you just need to use it more effectively than you do! Because memory and concentration go hand in hand, when one improves, so does the other.

One reason why we may think we have poor memories is that we are told so! How many times have you heard ‘You’d forget your head if it wasn’t screwed on’ or ‘can’t you concentrate on anything?’, ‘you’ve got a memory like a sieve’ remarks, which, over time may have left negative ideas about yourself in your mind at the subconscious level. These kinds of comments are frequently made by parents, siblings, school/workmates and even yourself. Remember, your subconscious image of yourself is important because you are motivated to conform to it, no matter what the conscious mind thinks.

Other very important reasons for difficulties with memory retention and concentration are stress and anxiety, which use up valuable energy, thus limiting the ability to focus or concentrate on the ‘task’ at hand.

Improve your memory

Hypnosis is a powerful tool that enables you to access a deeper part of your mind (subconscious), in order to help you to positively change the way you think about yourself and your abilities, and improve your memory. Most people find that hypnosis and regular self-hypnosis, by their very nature, result in spontaneous improvement in concentration and memory. A new feeling of confidence accompanied by a lowered level of stress and anxiety, paves the way for the mind to focus and retain knowledge. You will be surprised at how effective a few hours with an experienced hypnotherapist, along with a little practice, can help you change the way you think, feel, and act in a way that allows you to achieve many of your individual needs and goals.
